2026 Harvest: Sunflower Yields Hold Steady, While Cereal Crops Suffer from Drought

In 2026, the Family Dairy Farms project’s agricultural enterprise cultivated approximately 1,900 hectares. Despite challenging weather conditions, sunflower yields remained at the previous year’s level, while yields of winter cereals and silage corn declined due to a lack of moisture.

According to Petro Fedoruk, the project’s agronomist, sunflower yields averaged 3.5 tonnes per hectare, the same as in 2025. Winter wheat yields fell from 6.5 to approximately 4.5 tonnes per hectare, while winter barley yields dropped to around 4 tonnes per hectare. Soybean yields averaged approximately 2 tonnes per hectare, and silage corn yields reached 30 tonnes per hectare.

The main reason for the decline in yields, according to the agronomist, was a prolonged drought, which prevented crops from reaching their full yield potential. For the next season, the enterprise plans to expand the areas planted with certain crops, particularly alfalfa and silage corn.
