Family Dairy Farms Launch a Digital Management System

Today, Ukrainian farmers and dairy processors need more than quality feed, equipment, and reliable sales channels — they also need efficient data management and modern business processes. As farms grow, notebooks, scattered spreadsheets, and photos shared in messaging apps become costly, leading to errors, wasted time, and slower development.

To address these challenges, the Family Dairy Farms project has begun building a unified digital management ecosystem for its network of family farms, veterinary center, feed production facilities, and cheese dairies. An important milestone in this journey was CEO Liudmyla Ivashchuk’s participation in the Vidvazhna acceleration program. The project secured a UAH 300,000 grant to launch its digital transformation and advanced to the program’s final stage, competing for the main UAH 1.5 million grant. The final project presentation took place on March 13 in Kyiv.

Why Digitalization Matters for Agriculture Today

For many agricultural businesses, the biggest challenge is no longer collecting data — it is making that data work. Without a unified system, farmers spend hours preparing manual reports, managers make decisions based on incomplete information, and quality control and financial oversight rely heavily on human judgment. As operations expand, these inefficiencies become increasingly significant.

At Family Dairy Farms, digital transformation is built around a simple principle: less manual work, greater transparency, stronger control, and better predictability. This approach enables farms to improve operational efficiency, respond to issues more quickly, and prepare for future growth.

Digital Tools Being Introduced

The digital ecosystem project includes the implementation of:

  • a CRM system to manage operations and maintain digital records for every farm;
  • a centralized cloud-based data platform for the entire network;
  • artificial intelligence tools to digitize handwritten records;
  • real-time analytics dashboards for management and service teams.

The platform is designed around a unified data core that reduces manual work while providing instant access to operational insights. Key technologies include Uspacy CRM as the digital passport for each farm, a Data Lake hosted on MiroHost Cloud, Google AI for handwritten document recognition, and Microsoft Power BI for business analytics.

“Even during the preparation phase of the project, our team had already developed and launched three chatbots: one for veterinarians, one for collecting farm data from farmers, and one for our cheese dairy to manage customer orders” – Liudmyla Ivashchuk, CEO of Family Dairy Farms

Grants and Government Support Create New Opportunities

The Vidvazhna grant is more than just recognition for a single project — it demonstrates that funding to improve agricultural management, processing, and technology is available to businesses ready to innovate.

In addition, both government and international grant programs continue to support farmers and food processors by helping finance equipment purchases, production expansion, job creation, and business modernization. For farms with clear development strategies and sound financial planning, these programs have become valuable tools for sustainable growth, even in challenging times.

At Family Dairy Farms, digitalization is viewed as a practical investment in long-term stability. It helps optimize costs, identify operational weaknesses, reduce losses, and improve overall business management — laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient agricultural ecosystem.
